Where the template comes from
The source is the official Zabbix community template for Kerio Control, the Zabbix 6.0 version: zabbix/community-templates on GitHub. The original author is Magno Monte Cerqueira, and the original template is in Portuguese.
What I changed in the original:
- Translated everything: item names, triggers, graphs, discovery rules, into English (originally translated to Russian, now fully localized for this version)
- Fixed real bugs: the CPU OID was labeled “% load” but actually returns load average from Net-SNMP UCD-MIB. Renamed it and corrected the trigger threshold
- The memory trigger was inverted: it fired on “lots of free memory” instead of low memory. Fixed the logic
- Split ifAdminStatus from ifOperStatus: previously the DISASTER trigger fired on any port an admin had manually disabled
- Added delta preprocessing for traffic: without it, Zabbix stored the raw SNMP counter instead of actual speed in bps
- Added graph_prototypes for inbound/outbound traffic with a proper LLD macro instead of $1, which doesn’t resolve in graph names
Item keys weren’t changed, so this is compatible with an already-imported original template. Updating through Zabbix will match existing UUIDs without losing history.
What the template collects
| Group | Items | Method |
|---|---|---|
| Availability | ping, latency, packet loss | Simple check (ICMP) |
| System | uptime, load average, sysDescr, sysLocation, sysContact | SNMP (MIB-II, UCD-SNMP-MIB) |
| Memory | available physical memory, buffers, cache, total volume | SNMP (UCD-SNMP-MIB) |
| Interfaces (LLD) | in/out traffic, admin and operational status, MAC, alias, type | SNMP (IF-MIB) with autodiscovery |
Triggers: firewall unavailable, high packet loss, high latency, reboot, high load average, low free memory, interface link down (based on ifOperStatus, not admin status).
Import
Assuming your Zabbix Server is already deployed and running.
Download the Zabbix template for Kerio Control (ZIP)
Data collection → Templates → Import → select file →
check Create new + Update existing for all object types → Import
Next, create a host, attach the template, set up the SNMP interface with the Kerio Control IP and community string (SNMP must already be enabled on Kerio Control itself: Configuration → Accounting and Monitoring → SNMP). After saving the host, force discovery rules with Execute now so you don’t have to wait a full day for the first interface autodiscovery. The delay there is set to 84600 seconds.
FAQ
Why not just use the original template from GitHub?
You can, but it’s all in Portuguese and has the bugs described above: inverted memory trigger logic and false DISASTER alerts on manually disabled ports. This file is a fixed and translated version of the same template, with the same keys.
Will importing update an already-configured original template without losing data?
Yes, if you select Update existing during import. Zabbix matches objects by UUID, history values are preserved, only names, units and trigger logic change.
Do I need to change anything on Kerio Control itself?
Just enable SNMP monitoring in settings (Configuration → Accounting and Monitoring → SNMP) and set a community string if you haven’t already.
